Dr. McFadden grew up in the Detroit metropolitan area. He became a Christian through the gospel witness of his parents and church, and decided to pursue ministry and biblical scholarship because of the influence of his high school Bible teacher.

He received his bachelor’s degree from here Maranatha Baptist Bible College and his M.Div. from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary. He then studied with Tom Schreiner at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, receiving his Th.M. and Ph.D. in New Testament Studies. During his doctoral work, Dr. McFadden presented papers at the Evangelical Theological Society, a poster at the Society of Biblical Literature, and published an article in the Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society. He is currently working on the publication of his dissertation and an article about Paul’s purpose for writing Romans.

Dr. McFadden has been a member of churches in Michigan, Kentucky, and now Louisiana. He completed a missions internship in Mwanza, Tanzania, in which he learned how God uses the preaching of his Word to build up his church. He also completed a pastoral internship in Washington D. C., in which he learned the importance of biblical ecclesiology and the centrality of the gospel in the church. He is currently a member at Kingsville Baptist Church, where he teaches and preaches as occasions arise.

Louisiana College is Dr. McFadden’s first professorship, although he has served as an adjunct professor at the Mwanza Baptist Institute and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
