"Revive Us, O Lord", a book of compiled sermons published by the Louisiana Baptist Convention, contains a sermon by Dr. Masteller.
Dr. Masteller has been pastoring churches throughout the southwest for the past 40 years. On November of 2011, he retired as Senior Pastor at Summer Grove Baptist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana. Having been at Summer Grove for 13 years, Dr. Masteller led the state in the number of baptisms in 1999 with 287 people baptized, a church record. Under his leadership, there were hundreds baptized at Summer Grove. He led the church to purchase the former South Park Mall where Summer Grove continues to be involved in ministry to their church family, the community and the entire Ark-La-Tex.
Dr. Masteller is widely known for his role in helping and teaching leadership skills throughout America. Prior to his going to Shreveport, Dr. Masteller was Vice President with John Maxwell’s Injoy Stewardship Services in Atlanta, Georgia.
Other churches that Dr. Masteller has served as Pastor include: Westwood Baptist Church in Waco, Texas, First Baptist Church of Harrah, Oklahoma, First Baptist Church of Jenks, Oklahoma and Putnam City Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Over the years, he has played an active role with the Southern Baptist Convention having served on various Boards and Agencies. While serving as Pastor at Putnam City Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, he was elected President of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma for two consecutive terms and President of the Oklahoma Pastors’ Conference. After serving on the state board of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, he was recognized as the Pastor of the Year by that same organization.
Dr. Masteller is honored to have served Louisiana Baptists as President of the Louisiana Baptist Convention for the past two years. He is currently the Director of the Joseph Willis Institute for Great Spiritual Awakenings and Ambassador for the Caskey School of Divinity. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri. He then went on to obtain a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. Dr. Masteller has also received a Doctor of Divinity from the California Graduate School of Theology, a Doctor of Sacred Theology from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO, and a Doctor of Humanities from the Louisiana Baptist University in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Dr. Masteller is married to the former Linda Jines and they have four daughters, Michelle Gage, Kimberly Welch, Crystal Gornto and Heather Oathout. He is also a grandfather to ten wonderful grandchildren.
