Important Graduation Information

Required Steps For Graduation:

  1. Graduation check with advisor 6 full months prior to the anticipated date of graduation to ensure all requirements for graduation (see the Caskey School of Divinity Catalog at divinity.lacollege.edu) have been or will soon be fulfilled.
    1. Students will be responsible for any delay in graduation relating to an application for graduation received less than 6 full months before a student’s planned graduation. Thus, students should consult with their faculty advisor for guidance and work closely with their advisor in preparing for graduation.
  2. Application for graduation completed and submitted prior to the admissions deadline for the semester before a student’s expected graduation. Students may obtain a graduation application form by contacting the Caskey Offices at 318.487.7958 or caskeyadmissions@lacollege.edu or by downloading the file here.
    1. Deadline for spring graduation is December1
      1. Students who will participate in commencement exercises in May but finish their degree requirements by the end of Summer Term II must also follow this deadline.
    2. Deadline for summer graduation is May 1
      1. Students meeting this deadline will participate in the commencement ceremony in December.
    3. Deadline for fall graduation is July 1
  3. Completion of all required courses for program completion (see Catalog)

  4. Cumulative GPA at appropriate level

  5. Completion of all Evangelism Practicum requirements
    1. This will be verified by the Caskey offices before you receive clearance for graduation.
  6. Completion of Course Completion class
    1. This will be verified by the Caskey offices before you receive clearance for graduation.
  7. Students must make arrangements for the rental of caps and gowns by the given deadline (this information will be communicated as soon as it is available).
    1. Students are required to participate in commencement exercises in order to receive their diplomas. If unusual circumstances may prevent a student from participating, a student must submit to the Associate Dean of the Caskey School a written request to graduate in absentia specifying the unusual circumstances no later than three weeks prior to the scheduled date of graduation. Students will only be excused with written permission from the Associate Dean of the Caskey School.
    2. Please note that this deadline may vary from semester-to-semester because of changes in Grad Fair dates for Louisiana College. It will be your responsibility to follow up on the information communicated to you and purchase your cap and gown by the given deadline.
